There are at least two great things about Little Felted Dogs. The first is that the 24 tiny dogs shown are the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Just darling! Each breed is represented realistically, photographed in such a cute way, it’s all just ridiculously charming. Secondly, it shows you how to make your own! I got some wool and a felting hook (and most importantly – a thimble for not pricking myself!), and then tried my hand at making my own. Even though my little Chihuahua that I’m working on is pretty lopsided, it’s still fun. My daughters and I are already talking about other animals we can try to make after perfecting these. Maybe a simple rabbit?

The book includes a chapter describing the basics, with or without a pipe cleaner frame. Other chapters include these other breeds as well: Bulldog, Golden Retriever puppies, Old English Sheepdog, Toy Poodle, Wire Fox Terrier, Shiba Inu, Shih Tzu, Dalmatian, Pug, Bernese Mountain Dog, Doberman Pinscher, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bull Terrier, Siberian Husky, Pomeranian, Labrador Retriever, West Highland White Terrier, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Scottish Terrier, Irish Setter, and Miniature Dachshund. Even if someone’s favorite breed wasn’t included in the list, you could incorporate ideas from the different dogs to make your own.
