This delightful little book features black-and-white illustrations from the Peanuts comic strip, printed full-page on colored paper acting as the background. The story reads a bit like a screenplay, with the text largely being different characters’ thoughts and dialog about what makes someone into a good friend. Charlie Brown believes he needs as many friends as he can get.

In the end, though, he seems to realize that, actually, what he needed — and already has — is one, true friend. It’s an insightful and thought-provoking picture book, for “children” of all ages. It’d be a perfect gift for someone who may have lost some friends, but still has a true friend, in the giver of this remarkable book.
