Clay So Cute!: 21 Polymer Clay Projects for Cool Charms, Itty-Bitty Animals, and Tiny Treasures is a really fun book for kids to learn about polymer clay and make some cute projects. It is written by prolific author, Sherri Haab and published by Watson-Guptill. Sherri Haab also wrote “The Incredible Clay Book” (which sold over a million copies!), plus many other books about jewelry making and other creative pursuits.

The book includes lots of fun pictures as well as basic information about polymer clay, such as how to bake for permanency or to fix broken pieces (good to know!). It also tells about tools and supplies needed, plus safety tips. I liked that the author had explanations of things you’ll need to make jewelry with. That was helpful and interesting!

Clay So Cute!: 21 Polymer Clay Projects for Cool Charms, Itty-Bitty Animals, and Tiny Treasures is divided into three sections, the first being “All Jewelry, All the Time”. There are many projects making colorful and fun jewelry pieces of all types. I thought the cookie cutter necklace was really cute and so easy, even for a beginner! The second area, “Fantastic Foods” has lots of yummy treats to make and then wear. The chocolicious bracelet looked real — and delicious — enough to eat! “This and That” is the last section, with other neat ideas, like the treasure tins to decorate any way you like!

Polymer clay is a fun and easy art medium for kids to use and they can explore endless avenues of creativity with it. And this is a excellent book for girls to use if they are just starting out or even if they just want to find some new projects to make!
