Thank you for visiting!
This is a collegiate-level drawing guide which would work well, with or without a college course to go along with it. Unlike many textbooks, though, it is very accessible and easy to read and follow.
The integration of art history into the instruction helps add depth and energizes the book — along with my own efforts to follow along. Chapters include a reassuring introduction, art history thru drawing, materials, essential skills (a highlight of needed basics often skipped over elsewhere), aesthetics (again, with different historical perspectives, and specific instruction on still life, architecture, interiors, portraits, and the human figure.
If you’re an art instructor looking for a fresh take on drawing instruction, this is it. If you’re just looking for a truly helpful drawing book, here you go.
