Big Little Felt Universe: Sew It, Stuff It, Squeeze It, Fun! is written by Jeanette Lim and published by Lark Crafts. The author lives in Singapore and is a very talented felt artist. She started an Etsy shop in 2007 and has sold over 9,000 patterns of her felt designs. Now, we have the pleasure of having over seventy of those projects in one beautiful softcover book!

Big Little Felt Universe has a bright and colorful layout with lots of white space so the fun felt projects really pop! It also comes complete with the patterns, almost all of which are at actual size, so there is no need to enlarge. There are also clear illustrations of the stitches used, as well as helpful tips, like how to cut and wash the felt.

I love how the felt creations are all very soft, yet durable. And making projects out of felt requires very simple materials, basically just felt, scissors, needle and thread, and stuffing. All of the projects in Big Little Felt Universeare grouped in sets. For instance, a lovely white cake is covered in EIGHT kinds of fruit, with patterns for a spatula, candles and cake box included!

The camping set has patterns and instructions for a fire and gear, plus yummy looking s’mores! There’s a house plant set, with cactus, bamboo and pansies. They are beautiful and much easier to take care of than real ones. The fruit and veggie sets would look really nice in a wood or ceramic bowl in the kitchen.

And if you know a little guy that would like to “work” alongside daddy, the tool or grill sets would be a great gift. A purse filled with a cell phone, lipstick, compact, wallet and more would help make those quiet times in the waiting room or at church much more enjoyable.
