For anyone that loves gardening, cooking or art, The Artist, the Cook, and the Gardener would be an absolute joy to receive. It is filled with visual delights on every single page and transforms simple foods from the garden into beautiful works of art. I knew food could be lovely to look at, but seeing the arrangements in this book made clear that food could definitely be seen as art in itself.

The Artist, the Cook, and the Gardener is a family endeavor, with photographs and paintings from the author’s son and daughter and the vivid colors from the art and the food just jump off of the pages. The recipes are simple with fresh, seasonal ingredients and how the elements are arranged offers inspiration for my own creations. One that I’d love to make is the “Garden Bento Boxes” with quail eggs on frisee nests. Gorgeous!

I really loved all the natural light that is used throughout The Artist, the Cook, and the Gardener. It makes me feel like I’m right there on a warm summer day, which is certainly a pleasure during these winter months!
