You’re My Hungry Little Caterpillar Board book

I’m a huge Eric Carle fan and I’m loving this new colorful board-book revision of the wildly popular book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Here, the caterpillar is joined by a wide variety of colorful animals, all enjoying their favorite foods. The non-rhyming text returns to the refrain found in the title while tying that analogy to the expanding diet of toddlers, who are trying assortments of new foods, like oranges, bananas, milk, and cookies — which are often favorites of the colorful animals.

The images are simple yet compelling, with the wash of varying shades of colors making each illustration a enjoyable with lots to point out to our little one and appreciate on our own, too. Further, the book’s narrator (assumed to be a father or mother, I believe) expresses joy and love for their own little hungry caterpillar. The book is beautifully printed, with deluxe binding and a padded cover, ready for years of loving points and pats. This would make an outstanding “sequel” to the original Hungry Caterpillar book and should be welcomed by any library, whether public or at home.
