I love how this unconventionally “tall” book jumps into the deep end — right off the bat. The single sentence and illustration on the front endpaper lays out the inciting incident’s “cause” for all the “effects” to come, continuing right on through the end sheet. All killer, no filler; the colophon is actually on the second and third pages, to the side of illustrations which show the beginning of “the stack,” and the story itself. The lovely — and lively! — multimedia illustrations show increasingly absurd objects that Luna stacks up to reach… something. The clever layout and humorous text lead us all up the stack, alongside Luna, to a heart-warming accomplishment. Yet there are even more jokes to come. What a truly delightful book!
