Enjoy this fun idea for kids 🙂

My family can really relate to this story! When some contractors removed a 100 year old oak from the property next door, for no apparent reason, it saddened us all. It was the best part of our neighborhood, but after decades, it was gone. Here, this story features a family farm’s large spruce tree which they’ve enjoyed for many years.

When the giant spruce is selected for the town Christmas tree, a young boy asks if they can find a way to preserve the tree. The story offers a nice ending that sows the rewards of caring for nature. At the end, the book explains transplanting and Christmas tree traditions. The illustrations are an absolute delight, too — even the end papers are charming — of vintage ornaments hanging on a Christmas tree.
