Thank you for visiting!
I’ve been a huge fan of patchwork my whole life, I love all of the colors and patterns in it and I also appreciate the way it allows for using even the small scraps from my scrap pile. I also adore Christmas, so when I saw a new holiday patchwork craft book, I couldn’t wait to see everything it had to offer. Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays is written by John Q. Adams and is just full of beautiful projects to craft for the holidays and the whole book shines with a fresh, modern patchwork look, with bright, vivid colors and updated quilting ideas.
I was delighted by the range of the projects in Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays. Of course there were quilts, but there were also many other types of holiday decorations and treats, like toys, an advent calendar, bunting, tree skirts, pillows, stockings and more. There were also five “mini projects”, all for ornaments, which are perfect for me to stick in my purse and work on when waiting for appointments.
When I was trying to decide what to make first, the Milk and Cookie Mats really caught my eye, with its green triangle stacked tree and festive red border. It really didn’t take much time at all, maybe a couple of hours and I am a novice quilter. It’s the perfect thing to put milk and cookies on for Santa (plus some carrots for the reindeer!). I can’t wait to make the adorable Stuffed Elves from Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays next, they are so cute!
