In this colorful and exciting paperback story for young ones, when the Little Girl and Uni the Unicorn find a four-leaf clover. Could it be their lucky day? Or will it turn into an unlucky night? With the help of their friends, the group discovers how it’s good to find encouragement to lead them forward — while they make their own “good luck!” My children love Rosenthal’s surprising story, and how it’s told more from the unicorns’ perspective than the girl’s. Maybe friends are the best luck of all! Barrager’s full-page, retro-style illustrations are colorful, engaging, and help make each page magical. My kids enjoyed the activities at the end of the book — image search, word search, and a simple coloring page.

This is a charming little story, in a lovely, colorful book that helps explain and celebrate the Easter Bunny and hunting for Easter eggs. Here, Uni learns about Easter from the Little Girl, but when she begins walking home, she discovers the Easter Bunny had a hole in his basket and lost the eggs! Can Uni help the Easter Bunny find and restore the magic of Easter in time for the egg hunt? The vivid illustrations help make this a hard bound book a treasure for each of my little ones to discover and enjoy. I wonder if the Easter Bunny will leave a copy next to their Easter baskets?

When opening the book the first time, my little one asked if we could cover her walls in the vivid, seashell floral pattern on the inside-cover’s endsheets. I wish we could! The entire book’s colorful illustrations help make the entire book as magical as the unicorns and mermaids inside. In this book, as readers often find to their delight, different characters are surprised to discover that magical creatures — like little girls — are real, including mermaids! My daughter loves the two-page spread as the Little Girl and the Mermaid ride off on the back of the unicorn, flying over forest flowers, and leaving a rainbow behind them. My daughter has set up her own “Mermaid Jar,” a Mason jar full of treasures like seashells, colorful rocks, and dried flowers, just like the Little Girl has. She is delighted by the shift in perspective (and the power of compassion and seeing things from other’s point of view) when the mermaid creates her own “Little Girl Jar!”
