This illustrated free-verse poetry book is inviting and engaging on many levels. The poetry is often quite straightforward, and often read as much like mini-essays as they do poems. Yet the turns of phrase are clever and draw me into her perspectives on life and living well. The collage-style illustrations are gorgeous, extremely well done, and are works of art in themselves; I’d love to have several of these as prints on my walls. For example, I think about the poem, “King,” often, and her wonderful brother she wrote it for; such a good example for men everywhere.
