This is a wonderfully illustrated(!) and imaginative and adventurous tale that helps to convey how we have to work and sacrifice to create something great. In the story, a rock decides to hitch rides from place to place, taking in great American monuments made of stone — both natural and man-made — around the country. Finally, this one rock realizes how it can make a huge difference and become part of something grander than just itself.
It’s really a wonderful thing to grasp how we can play a role in the great events of our world, and I have worried if children today are really understanding what an important and fulfilling part of life that can be. I’m grateful to find this beautiful book to help share those hard to envision principles in their own lives.
