This is a fun facts book all about human biology, with a focus on engaging and helping kids learn while having a great deal of fun. Yet, I think, it adds to regular learning to supplement and enlarge our understanding of the body and how it really works — well beyond the basics. The full-page retro-style illustrations are colorful and fun, with the opposite pages offering a specific fun fact, along with a supplementary factoid which enlarges on the basic principles suggested by the former.
For example, I didn’t realize that when you yell or scream, your ears contract so they don’t get hurt. Now I know why people can’t always tell how loud they are talking! Then, the accompanying factoid explains how to simply change the sound of your voice as you hear it, too. The book is well-bound, would make a fantastic birthday gift, and is fun to read — and to return to again and again — for children of all ages!
