Okay, let’s get this out of the way first. Spoiler Alert: The monster really does “eat pete” in this delightful tale. There isn’t anything grotesque in the charming and simple story, but it does give a chance for the monster to learn that playing with friends is more fun than eating, or um, antagonizing them. That can be a difficult lesson for many children to learn, so I’m so happy to share this well made book with my own little monsters.
This delightful rhyming book features a young girl thinking through the normal everyday troubles that everyone has to deal with, but in this case, they’re attributed to all the classic movie monsters, one after another. Sometimes laughing at our fears is the best way to overcoming them, especially when we learn to put ourselves in others’ shoes and see things from their perspectives. Very well illustrated in excellent binding and printing.
